Flowers to say "I miss you"
Missing someone who's far away has one problem: a WhatsApp message is free and gets lost among twenty others. A physical delivery takes up space in the other person's day, and that's the whole difference.
The flowers that say it
- Pink camellia. Its traditional meaning is literally longing. Almost nobody knows that, so you have to explain it, and explaining it is part of the gesture.
- Lavender roses. Enchantment and love at first sight. Rarely seen, very beautiful.
- Forget-me-nots. The name says it all. They aren't always available as cut flowers.
- Sunflowers. "I always look the same way." The cheerful option.
- A bouquet of the flower they like, if you know it. It beats any symbolism.
What makes it work
It's not the size of the bouquet. It's three things:
- That it's unexpected. An ordinary Tuesday, no date, no reason. A bouquet on a special date is a duty fulfilled; one with no date is a message.
- That the card is specific. "I miss you" is generic. "I walked past that bar on Guatemala Street today and thought of you" is not.
- That it arrives early. It changes the whole day, not just the moment.
If you're in different cities or countries
Flowers don't cross borders: what you do is buy from a florist where the other person is. If you're the one far away and want to send something to Buenos Aires, we explain how in how to send flowers to Argentina from abroad.
An alternative that lasts longer
For long distances (someone who moved abroad to study or work), a flower subscription works differently: instead of one big gesture, it's twelve small reminders throughout the year. When you miss someone, frequency matters more than size.
