Season in Argentina
From January to April, peaking in February and March (summer into fall in the Southern Hemisphere). It is a summer and autumn flower, which makes it an excellent alternative when peonies are gone and tulips have not arrived yet.
How to make it last longer
Dahlias are demanding: a hollow stem that rots quickly. Two things make all the difference. First, cut the stem under water and remove any submerged leaves. Second, change the water every day, not every other day. With that, it goes from four days to more than a week.
