Mother’s Day around the world
The date changes from country to country, which is exactly why it is easy to miss when you live in one and your mother lives in another:
- United States, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia: second Sunday of May.
- Spain: first Sunday of May.
- Mexico: May 10, whatever the weekday.
- France: usually the last Sunday of May.
- United Kingdom and Ireland: Mothering Sunday, in March (three weeks before Easter).
- Argentina: third Sunday of October.

Ma is the everyday short form of mamá, and vos is the Argentine “you”.
