How many roses to give for each occasion
The number of roses says as much as the color. It is not a rigid rule, but knowing it saves you from sending unintended messages.
What each number says
| Number | Message |
|---|---|
| 1 | "You're the only one." Striking and affordable. |
| 3 | "I love you." A classic for a first gift. |
| 6 | Affection and the wish to be close. |
| 12 | The dozen: complete love. The anniversary standard. |
| 24 | "I think of you 24 hours a day." |
| 50 or more | Boundless love. For milestone anniversaries and proposals. |
When the number matters little
If the gift is a thank-you, for a friend or for someone recovering, nobody counts the roses. What matters there is the color and the overall size of the arrangement. Number symbolism carries weight mostly in romantic contexts.
Numbers to avoid
In some cultures even numbers are reserved for funerals — it is a strong tradition in Eastern Europe. It doesn't apply in Argentina, but if the recipient's family follows that tradition, an odd number is safer. And 13, just in case, is best skipped.
A practical tip
Before stretching your budget to reach 24 regular roses, consider 12 of better quality. Bud size and freshness show more than quantity.
