Flowers for a bachelorette party

It's an event where the flowers work mostly for the photos. That changes the criteria: how they look on camera matters more than how long they last.

The formats people use

  • A flower crown for the bride. The absolute classic. It's made with small, hardy flowers: statice, baby's breath, mini roses, eucalyptus. It has to be light and not shed pollen.
  • Crowns or wristlets for the guests, in a simpler version. They work very well as keepsakes.
  • A floral photo backdrop. A panel or an arch with flowers, which is where 80% of the photos end up being taken.
  • Low centerpieces, if there's a lunch or dinner.
  • A bouquet of dried or preserved flowers, which holds up all day without water and keeps afterward.

Which flowers last a full day out of water

This is the deciding factor, because you can't water a crown. The ones that hold up:

  • Statice and limonium: practically indestructible, and they dry beautifully.
  • Baby's breath (gypsophila): light, and it lasts for hours.
  • Carnations and mini carnations: the hardiest of the "real" flowers.
  • Eucalyptus and ruscus: greenery that doesn't wilt.
  • Preserved flowers: the risk-free option.

What doesn't hold up: hydrangeas, tulips, gerberas, and any hollow-stemmed flower out of water.

Renting instead of buying

For arches, panels and structures, renting makes more sense: they're used for one afternoon and then there's nowhere to store them. What is worth buying are the personal crowns, which are worn and can be kept once dried.

A budget tip

Concentrate the spending on a single focal point (the photo area or the bride's crown) and handle the rest with greenery and candles. Spreading the budget across many small arrangements gives an overall feeling of too little, while one focal point done well sets the mood for every photo.

Availability of each flower changes with the season. If you are looking for a specific flower, ask us before ordering and we will confirm whether we have it.
