Flowers for a store or business opening
It is one of the most appreciated deliveries there is, and one of the most often sent late. On opening day, a shop with nothing at the door looks empty; with two arrangements, it looks like an event.
When it has to arrive
Early on the morning of the opening. Ideally before the doors open, so it is already in place when the first customer walks in. An arrangement that shows up at five in the afternoon on opening day serves none of its purposes.
If you cannot make it in time, send it the following week, not late that same day. It even has an advantage: when everyone else has forgotten, the gesture stands out more.
The formats
- Tall standing arrangement. The classic opening format: it goes on the sidewalk or at the entrance and works as a sign that something is happening there. It is the one most requested.
- Large potted plant. An anthurium, a ficus, a palm. It lasts for years and becomes part of the shop. Symbolically, it is the best opening gift.
- Counter arrangement, more understated and for the inside.
- Combo with something to toast with. A popular choice for restaurant and café openings.
Which flowers and plants
The tone is celebration, not restrained elegance: bright colors, volume, presence. Sunflowers, gerberas, lilies and gladiolus in a tall arrangement.
The plant whose meaning fits this occasion most precisely is the anthurium: it traditionally symbolizes hospitality and abundance, and it blooms almost all year with little care. For a shop, it is hard to beat.
A detail that matters: the ribbon
At an opening, the arrangement also works as advertising for whoever sends it. A ribbon with the company name or a greeting, clearly visible, is part of the format — nobody will consider it tacky in this context, unlike at a birthday.
Common messages: "Wishing you success in this new chapter", "Congratulations on your opening", "Here's to the first of many".
What to avoid
- All white in a tall arrangement: it reads as funeral flowers. It is the classic mistake and the most awkward one.
- Arrangements that take up walking space. On opening day there are a lot of people and the shop needs room to move.
- Strong fragrance, especially at a restaurant or food business.
- Anything that needs immediate upkeep. On opening day nobody is going to be changing the water in a vase.
If the shop is yours
It is worth putting something out even if nobody sends you anything: two arrangements at the door completely change how a new shop reads from the sidewalk. And if you want fresh flowers every week after the opening, the format is a subscription — it is covered in floral arrangements for businesses.
