Same-day flower delivery: how it works
"Same-day delivery" is the most repeated promise in the business and the one most often broken. Here is how it really works, limits included.
How late you can order
It depends on the area and the product, and checkout shows you the time windows that are still available for the date you choose. If a window can no longer be met, it does not appear. It is the most honest way we have found to handle it: we would rather not offer you a time slot than offer it and not make it.
As a general rule: the earlier in the day you order, the more options you have. A morning order almost always makes it that same day; one placed at six in the evening generally does not.
What happens between your purchase and the delivery
- The order comes in and the payment is confirmed.
- The product is made at the shop. Arrangements and bases take longer than a wrapped bouquet.
- It is grouped by area. Deliveries go out by route, not one at a time: that is why the time slot is a window and not an exact time.
- It is delivered and logged.
When NOT to order for today
- If it is a surprise and you don't know whether anyone will be home. A failed delivery today is not redone today.
- During a heat wave, if the bouquet is going to sit waiting in a building lobby. It is explained in how to care for flowers in the heat.
- On peak dates. On February 14 or the Saturday before Mother's Day (which in Argentina falls in October), "today" is the worst possible choice: things sell out early and time slots fill up.
- If you want a specific flower. Same-day availability is whatever there is; with 48 hours, much more can be sourced.
What saves the most deliveries
Three details, in order of importance:
- The floor and apartment number. It is the number one cause of failed deliveries.
- A phone number for the recipient. If no one answers the buzzer, the driver calls.
- Whether there is a doorman or building manager and whether they are authorized to receive it.
The complete step-by-step is in how to send flowers to someone's home.
If no one is home
We try the phone, then leave it with the building manager or doorman when the building allows it. If there is no way, the order comes back, and to resend it the delivery fee has to be paid again. It is detailed in our returns policy.
